Estée Lauder Companies and Microsoft announced an expanded partnership on October 30 covering cloud, data and AI capabilities. Microsoft describes a Unified Data Platform connecting information across the beauty company’s brands, regions and business functions.

The announcement also says Copilot access has expanded across an office-based workforce of more than 14,000. Other initiatives target areas including consumer experiences, product development and operations. The companies describe intended benefits; the announcement does not provide independent proof of a measured productivity improvement across all those activities.

JetherVerse perspective: connecting information is often the less visible work behind an AI initiative. A small business can examine that issue without attempting to copy the size or spending of a multinational company.

Begin with one task that currently requires people to reconcile several records. For example, imagine a team preparing a product launch using separate spreadsheets for descriptions, availability and approved images. Before adding an assistant, establish which record is authoritative and who can approve a change.

Then define what the assistant should produce and what a person must check. A useful trial has a clear input, a bounded output and a review step that fits the existing workflow. Include the time needed to correct mistakes when judging whether the trial helps.

Access decisions need equal attention. The people testing a workflow should receive the information needed for that task, with responsibilities documented. A shared project should not depend on somebody casually copying records from several unrelated systems.

Choose a baseline the team understands. Record how the task is performed today, where delays occur and what an acceptable result looks like. Compare the trial against that process rather than treating the number of enabled accounts as the business outcome.

JetherVerse’s AI solutions service at https://jetherverse.com/services/ai-solutions can help define a manageable first workflow and the data it requires. The practical starting point is one task with clear ownership and a result that the team can assess, followed by expansion when the evidence supports it.
