Canva introduced Craft on October 22, making its first image-generation foundation model available to users through Dream Lab and to developers through its public API. The company says the model was built and trained by its internal research team.

Craft separates composition planning from image rendering. Canva describes an initial stage that plans elements, scale, positioning and text, followed by a renderer producing the image. Outputs can reach 2K resolution across a range of aspect ratios.

The company also says the structure supports conversion into editable elements using Magic Layers. Its developer announcement confirms a Craft model option in the image-generation endpoint.

Faster Craft variants and an assistant connection through Canva MCP are described as coming soon. Those planned capabilities should not be confused with the features available in the launch release.

For business owners, the useful question is whether a generated image can become a finished asset without extensive repair. A striking first result is only part of the work when a campaign needs accurate wording, consistent colours and several sizes.

JetherVerse's practical takeaway is to evaluate the full editing process. Try one real brief with approved text and a defined layout, then check how easily the result can be corrected and adapted.

For example, a product promotion needs more than an attractive background. Confirm the product name, offer, date and call to action independently, and make sure the text remains readable on a phone.

Keep a record of which elements are generated, which were supplied and which require final human approval. That makes later edits easier and helps prevent an unreviewed draft from becoming a published campaign.

Test the export as well as the editor. Check the final crop, file size and how the graphic sits beside existing brand assets.

For teams incorporating image tools into a wider production process, choosing where automation helps and where review remains essential fits JetherVerse's AI solutions work: https://jetherverse.com/services/ai-solutions
