Arc Browser Will Shut Down on Desktop on December 22

The Browser Company announced on October 22 that Arc for macOS and Windows will stop working on December 22, 2026. It is directing users toward Dia, the browser now receiving the team's engineering and security focus.

The transition has several dates. New Arc accounts can no longer be created. On November 23, Arc Search on iOS and Android will lose AI features and account sign-in or tab synchronisation.

The company says desktop access ends on December 22 and Arc accounts will be deactivated. It describes personal account data being deleted within 30 days of deactivation, so users who want to preserve their setup should use the available export or import options before the deadline.

Arc's announcement describes migration into Dia and ways to export open tabs. Mobile outcomes differ by platform, so users should check the instructions relevant to their device rather than assume the desktop timetable covers everything.

For teams using a browser as their workspace, the practical issue is continuity. Bookmarks, saved sessions and extensions can quietly become part of everyday operations without anyone documenting them.

JetherVerse's takeaway is to test a replacement before the final week. Identify the work that depends on the current browser, then verify those tasks in the environment the team plans to use next.

For example, a client-support team may rely on an extension, a specific account profile and a collection of pinned administration pages. Moving only the bookmarks would leave part of that workflow behind.

Check password access, multi-factor authentication and account recovery as part of the transition. Keep exported data securely and avoid sending a password export through ordinary chat or email.

A short migration checklist should identify an owner, a test date and any unresolved dependencies. The aim is to discover compatibility problems while the existing setup is still available.
